What are your opening times?

We advertise our Bank Holiday opening times on social media also, so check there before you come to train

Are there changing rooms?

Yes, we have our own dedicated male and female Locker Rooms with toilets and showers

Do you have lockers?

Yes, please bring your own padlock or you can purchase a padlock from the gym. All lockers must be locked if occupied and only used for the duration of your training session. Please be aware: lockers are cleared of belongings every night by gym staff.

Do I need to bring anything with me when I train?

We request that you bring your own towel to wipe down machines. We have cleaning stations throughout the gym and ask you to wipe down all handles and touch points.

You’ll also need a padlock for your locker.

We have chilled water on sale in the gym. There is no fresh drinking water supply in the gym so you will need to fill your water bottle before coming for your training session.

Do you sell drinks?

We have a full range of chilled sports drinks, protein drinks and still water as well as protein bars on sale in the gym.

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we would ask you to pay using card / contactless so we do not have to handle cash.

Do you provide parking at the gym ?

We all know it can be tricky and expensive to get parked in Gosforth but we have a car park for 100+ cars and best of all it’s FREE

How much are your memberships? How much is it per month?

How do I join?

It’s a really simple process which you can do here on the website of in person at the gym. Click on join now, select your type of membership, and away you go. You’ll be a member in just a few simple steps.

Can I try before I buy?

Absolutely ! We offer a free “Try Us” day. You’ll need to book a slot in the diary but we’ll happily shown you round the gym let you have a trial session. See our link here

Do you do short term memberships?

Yes, use the gym for a one day for £7.50 or pay £30 for a month’s pass

What is the minimum age to join Axis Fitness ?

You have to aged 17 or over to join Axis Fitness.

Are there any restrictions for under 18's?

Yes. Anyone aged 17 or over can join our gym. If you are under 18 then a parent or guardian (aged 18 or over) can set up the Direct Debit payment arrangement.

Do you do Youth Memberships?

Unfortunately we no longer offer youth memberships. You have to be aged 17 or over to join Axis Fitness.

Do you offer a NUS discount?

Unfortunately, we do not currently offer any student discounts.

What benefits will I get if I refer a friend?

Lots of our members find it easier to stick to regular training plans and meet their fitness goals when they train someone else. Visit our refer a friend page and fill out your friend’s contact details and we’ll send them an invite. Occasionally we run competitions or offers which may include free day pass memberships.

Can I pay by cash or card?

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we would ask you to pay using card / contactless so we do not have to handle cash. We accept most major bank cards.

Can I set up my direct debit with a non-UK bank account?

Members can only set up a direct debit for full membership with a UK bank account.

When is the first month’s payment made?

If you join in person at the gym, you will need to pay for your first month’s fee by either card at the point of sale. If you join on-line, your first payment will be collected on the same day as joining, this will cover your first month’s membership. Subsequent monthly payments will be debited one month after joining either on the 1st, 9th, 17th or 24th of the month, whichever is closest to the day you joined and will continue on or just after the same day of each month thereafter.

Does Axis Fitness have a corporate scheme?

Yes, we offer discounted rates for employees of selected local businesses, please contact the gym directly to see if your company is part of the scheme. You will need to provide proof of your employment with our corporate partner in order to qualify

Can I cancel my membership?

So long as you are not contractually tied to us for any specified period of time, you can cancel with 30 days notice. We do not handle cancellations in the gym. Is the website secure?

Yes, the signup section of the website is secure, and any details entered will be encrypted before being sent to the server. We assure you that your personal and banking details will be kept private.

Coming to Axis Fitness for the first time

Q

What should I wear?

Training shoes and gym gear like a tee shirt, sweat pants or leggings are perfect. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in so long as it is sports wear. The gym is air conditioned for your comfort. No outdoor clothing or shoes are permitted.

You must use a locker for bags and coats etc. You will not be permitted to bring these items into the gym when you train. You can purchase a padlock from the gym reception for £5.

Please bring a small towel to wipe down the machines after you have used them.

How do I enter the gym ?

If you have signed up on-line we will need to scan your fingerprint and take your photograph so we can give you access through the secure turnstile. Just come to the gym reception and we will sort this out in a matter of minutes.

If you signed up in person at the gym we will have taken your photograph and scanned your fingerprint already. When you come to the gym, simply place your finger on the scanner, wait for the entry light to turn green then come on through the turnstile.

What if I need help while I’m in the gym?

At Axis Fitness, the gym is always manned by a member of staff who are on hand to answer any queries and help you with equipment.

Will I be issued with a membership card?

No. Your fingerprint is your key ! It is unique to you and gives you access into the gym using the scanner. You will be given a membership number in your welcome pack which you will need if you need to contact our membership management company, Ashbourne, but it is not essential.

How safe is my fingerprint data?

We scan your fingerprint but we do not store the image, instead the door entry software picks certain points on your finger and generates a unique code which is assigned to your details. Your data is not shared with any other parties and we maintain robust IT systems to secure our systems.

Why do I have to complete a Health Questionnaire?

We need to understand if you have any health issues that may affect your training at Axis Fitness. We also take details of your emergency contact just in case you become unwell whilst in the gym. Your data is stored securely and not shared with any other parties.

How can I cancel my membership?

To cancel your membership, you must speak to our membership management company, Ashbourne on 01564 741 837. You cannot cancel your membership directly at the gym and they will refer you to Ashbourne in all instances. Once your membership has been cancelled, the turnstile entry system will prevent you from entering the gym anymore.

How can I make a payment/reinstate my membership?

We use a membership management company, Ashbourne, to help with all membership payments and queries. To make a payment or discuss your membership please call Ashbourne on 01564 741 837

Is the gym secure?

Yes, you can train at Axis Fitness safely and securely. We have extensive CCTV, a secure turnstile entry system, members lockers for personal belongings and the gym is manned at all times.
